CAIRO – 13 September 2019: In coordination with the African Union, Egypt will host the 5th Pan-Africa Forum on Migration from September 14 to 16, 2019.

This year’s forum will focus on means to strengthen migration data and research for evidence-based policy development and implementation towards effective migration governance in Africa.

Around 250 representatives of AU member states will meet in Cairo to attend the forum.

The forum is an AU initiative in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).

It provides a space for discussion and experiences sharing among AU member States, Regional Economic Communities, international organizations, civil society organizations, the private sector, academia and trade unions.

The forum also provides a platform for African regional institutions and partners to share information on current migration trends, patterns and dynamics, newly emerging issues and reliable migration data at the national, regional and continental level in order to find durable solutions to the migration challenges in Africa.

The ultimate aim of PAFOM is to improve the governance of migration in Africa.

The 5th edition of the will be marked by a day of ministerial meeting during which important issues on the governance of migration in Africa will be addressed.
