CAIRO - 21 July 2019: Roxi Smart Parking Garage was inaugurated on Sunday by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal, and a number of ministers.

The prime minister praised the inauguration of the garage, saying it is the first of its kind in Egypt and the Middle East and highlighting that it will contribute effectively to solving the traffic problem in the area.

Manager of Roxi Smart Parking Garage Maged Zarif said that customers have two payment options. Those are a monthly subscription and an hourly billing. An hour during the day costs LE15 while an hour during the night costs LE12.

Zarif further clarified the three types of monthly subscriptions. Those are parking between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. for LE2,000, between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. for LE1,500, and anytime for LE2,750. The first is most suitable for employees whose work is in Misr Al-Gadida, while the second is most fitting for residents.

Zarif stated that the residents of buildings surrounding the garage are given a 50 percent discount on all payment options because of the garage's impact on them. Zarif suggests that “Cairo Governorate Authority bans parking on the streets so that citizens benefit from the smart technology in the garage.”

The first phase of the garage’s capacity is 850 cars, while the total capacity is 1,700. The building stretches over 5,000 square meters and includes four underground floors. The cost of the first phase is LE 250 million and the total cost is LE 460 million.

The garage is equipped with car elevators to move cars in and out. Once the car gets in, the car is completely scanned by certain devices in the elevator. The garage is built and run by a private company in the B.O.T system.
