CAIRO – 19 July 2019: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met Friday with Representative and Director of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Egypt, Giovanna Ceglie, and Richard Dicktus, the UN Resident Coordinator in Cairo.

During the meeting, the UNIDO director pointed out to the organization’s keenness to cooperate with Egypt in the field of supporting and developing industry especially in light of the importance the Egyptian government attaches to this file and its importance in achieving development, increasing national income and raising export rates.

For his part, Madbouly welcomed the UN delegation and stressed that the Egyptian government gives a special interest to the industrial and modernization file.

The Prime Minister also stressed that the Egyptian government is exerting strenuous efforts to boost industry, local production and exports, pointing out to targeting the advancement of certain industries such as textile and automotive.

During the meeting, Madbouly also stressed the importance of continuing to build on financial and monetary reform by promoting the structural reform of the national economy sectors.

It was also agreed that the UNIDO office in Egypt would coordinate with micro-governmental grousp concerned with the development and modernization of the industry field in Egypt.
