CAIRO - 10 July 2019: Civil defense troops could control a fire that erupted at the monastery of Bishop Paula in Cairo's Hadaeq el-Qoba district on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Civil Defense reported that the cooling operations started at the site, adding that the flames damaged parts of the monastery.

The ministry stressed that no injuries or deaths were reported.Eyewitnesses believe the air conditioner caused the fire.

Ten fire engines rushed to the scene and managed to control the fire before it extended to neighboring buildings.

The prosecution team also arrived at the scene and is currently inspecting the place.



Coptic Orthodox Church Spokesman Father Boules Halim thanked the civil defense forces over their efforts to control a fire that broke out in the monetary.

ِAccording to a statement issued by the church, Halim said that the fire destroyed the entire building.
