CAIRO - 8 July 2019: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi chaired a coordination summit in Niamey, Niger on Monday with the participation of leaders of African countries and blocs.

The summit was attended by the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), East African Community (EAC), Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), among others.

The summit seeks to develop AfCFTA-related frameworks and foundations for integration with tools for common action in the coming period.

The extraordinary African summit kicked off Sunday July 7, under the chairmanship of President Sisi, the current president of the African Union.

Sisi underlined the importance of putting into force the African Free Trade Area agreement, considering this a great achievement as well as promoting communications with the private sector to implement this important agreement.

He added that great efforts should be exerted to realize economic integration among African states.

Sisi said the development of infrastructure is indispensable, called for promoting investments to realize the utmost benefit of the deal.
