CAIRO - 3 July 2019: Egypt condemns in the strongest terms the drone attack carried out by the Houthi militias in Yemen on Abha International Airport, reportedly injuring nine civilians, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The injured persons include eight Saudi citizens and one Indian national.

The ministry wished the injured people speedy recovery, according to the statement, and affirmed the solidarity of Egyptian government and people with the government and people of sisterly Saudi Arabia.

It also announced backing all procedures required to preserve the security and stability of the Kingdom, according to the statement.

This is the third attack by Houthis on Abha Airport in less than a month.

Spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition forces in Yemen said that the "terrorist" attack took place on Tuesday morning at 12:35 am local time, adding that it may be considered as a "war crime."

Flights resumed at the airport Tuesday hours after being hit, Saudi Al-Arabiya reported, affirming that the airport is working at full capacity and that flights are regular.

A Houthi drone attack in June injured seven civilians and killed a Syrian national after targeting the airport. Earlier in the same month, Houthis' Al-Masirah TV said that the group targeted the control room of Jizan airport and a fuel station at Abha airport.
