CAIRO, July 1 (MENA) - The Arab League (AL) vehemently condemned Israel's opening of a new tunnel running under a Palestinian village in East Jerusalem during a ceremony inaugurating a settler archaeological project.

The ceremony, inaugurating the “Path of the Pilgrims” in the Silwan neighborhood of East Jerusalem, was organized by the settler organization Elad.

US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman and President Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt attended the ceremony.

In a statement issued by AL Assistant Secretary General Saeed Abu Ali on Monday that he warned of the repercussions of Israel's continued digging operations in the occupied Jerusalem.

He also deplored the Israeli settlement practices which represent a flagrant violation of the international law.
