BEIJING, July 1 (MENA) - Mona Mehrez, the Egyptian Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Livestock, hailed the Egyptian-Chinese cooperation as an example for Sino-African relations.

In an interview with CGTN on the fringe of the first China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, she said Egypt has a plan to cooperate with China in the agricultural domain.

She added that Chinese investors are doing business in Egypt in various domains, including infrastructure, industrial cities and agriculture.

She added that there are Egyptians working at Chinese agricultural research institutes and academies.

She underlined the importance of China's Belt and Road initiative for the African continent, noting that Egypt is upgrading its roads to facilitate inter-continental trade, thus magnifying Africa's opportunity to benefit from Egypt's cooperation with China.

The first China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo was held from June 28 through 30 in Changsha, the capital city of central China's Hunan Province.

The expo, with an exhibition area of more than 40,000 square meters, attracted over 100,000 guests and traders, including those from 53 African countries

A total of 84 deals worth 20.8 billion dollars were reached in trade, agriculture, tourism and other fields during the three-day event.
