CAIRO – 13 June 2019: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi reaffirmed on Thursday Egypt's support to efforts exerted by Libya's national army to eliminate terrorist groups in the war-hit Arab African country.

President Sisi's statements came during a meeting at the Heliopolis-based Al Ittihadia palace with speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives Aguila Saleh.

Presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said the president affirmed the importance of respecting the will of the Libyan people and supporting Libya's legitimacy represented in the House of Representatives which had been elected by the Libyans.

The Libyan House of Representatives voted in May on banning the Libyan Muslim Brotherhood (MB) and classifying it as a terrorist group during a Parliament's session held in Tabruk city.

This decision came based on the Muslim Brotherhood's crimes against the Libyan army and its incitement against the parliament, as well as its support for the armed militias in Tripoli.
