Egyptian doctor shot in Germany, moved to hospital for treatment

CAIRO – 11 June 2019: A German young man shot on Tuesday Mahmoud Tawfiq, an Egyptian doctor, in German’s Aachen, causing him severe abdominal bleeding. Tawfiq was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to official reports.

In an interview with Egypt Today, Badr Abdel Aati, Egypt’s ambassador in Berlin said that he personally communicated with the wounded Egyptian citizen, immediately after the accident took place, to check his health condition.

The consular section at the embassy also contacted the relevant German authorities immediately after they knew about the incident, to follow up on procedures to arrest the perpetrator.

Moreover, the Embassy and the Consulate General of Egypt in Frankfurt formally addressed the German authorities to follow up on the results of the investigations and the relevant legal proceedings, and to disclose the circumstances of the accident.

Egyptian citizen Mahmoud Tawfiq thanked the Embassy and the Egyptian Ambassador for communicating with him and with the German authorities concerned.
