JEDDAH, May 22 (MENA) - The Saudi cabinet asserted that the Kingdom will do its utmost to avert war in the region, the Saudi news agency (SPA) reported.

This came at the cabinet's meeting, under the chairmanship of Saudi King Salman bin Abdel Aziz al Saud.

The cabinet also urged the international community to shoulder its responsibility and adopt a firm stand towards the Iranian regime and put an end to its attempts to spread chaos worldwide.

King Salman had also invited Gulf leaders and Arab states to two emergency summits in Makkah on May 30 to discuss means of shoring up peace and stability in the region.

The extraordinary meeting has been called following attack on the commercial maritime ships in the territorial waters of the UAE and the Iran-backed Houthi militias’ attacks on two oil pumping stations in Saudi Arabia.
