CAIRO - 12 May 2019: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi phoned on Saturday his counterpart of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa, congratulating him over his party's, African National Congress (ANC), victory in the parliamentary elections.

Sisi congratulated Ramaphosa also over his new presidential term, which started this month, said presidential spokesman Bassam Rady on Saturday.

The president voiced pride in the strategic relations with South Africa, hoping work will continue with Ramaphosa on promoting the cooperation ties as well as coordination and consultation on all African topic of mutual concern, said the spokesman.

Ramaphosa, for his part, voiced appreciation for President Sisi, asserting keenness on boosting the bilateral relations and promoting cooperation at all levels, in addition to maximizing coordination and exchange of views on various African issues, in a way that serves the joint African action, particularly in light of Egypt's current chairmanship of the African Union.
