AL: Palestinian issue to figure high on Arab Summit's agenda

TUNIS, March 27 (MENA) - Arab League (AL) Assistant Secretary General Ambassador Hossam Zaki said the Palestinian issue will figure high on the agenda of the 30th regular session of the Arab Summit, set to kick off on Sunday.

In statements to Extra News TV channel, Zaki said a set of political files will be discussed at the Arab Summit especially the latest developments in the Palestinian territories.

As regards the situation in Libya, he said the summit will provide a chance for several important officials who will participate in the summit to hold a meeting for the Quartet Group for Libya which involves the Arab League, the United Nations, the European Union and the African Union on the fringe of the Arab Summit meetings.

The Quartet meeting will be held on Saturday in the presence of UN Secretary General António Guterres, African Union Commission Chief Moussa Faki, High Representative of the European Union Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and UN Envoy to Libya Ghassan Salama.

As regards the Arab League's stance regarding Yemen, the ambassador asserted that the League was fully supporting legitimacy in Yemen, adding that Stockholm agreement to settle the dispute has not yet been put into effect.

Arab League foreign ministers meetings are expected to start on Friday ahead of the Arab leaders summit on Sunday.
