CAIRO - 12 March 2019: The Supreme State Security Emergency Court on Tuesday decided to issue its verdict in the trial of Hassan Malek, a businessman affiliated to the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood (MB), his son and 22 other defendants on April 30.

The 24 defendants are accused of joining a terrorist group and plotting a scheme to harm the national economy through hoarding hard currency and smuggling it abroad.

They also face charges of planning to assault police and army personnel.

Earlier, the Supreme State Security Prosecution had issued an arrest warrant against Malek and searched his house, where a number of publications showing plots to harm the national economy, attack police and army personnel and target the tourism industry were found.

The prosecutors had found a publication that included a list of US, UAE and Saudi companies working in Egypt, as well as a map of natural gas lines in the country with the aim to carry out terror attacks against these targets.
