CAIRO - 2 March 2019: A police officer was mauled by two pitbulls while paying his friend a visit in a residential compound in New Cairo on Friday; however, he was saved by a pedestrian and the owner who left them unleashed in front of his villa.

The officer, called Amr, was transferred to the Air Force Specialized Hospital as he suffers from serious injuries, while the dogs are being quarantined for 15 days and will be examined by a medical commission.

CAIRO - 26 February 2019: Due to the increasing number of reported dog attacks, a number of advocates of animal rights have called for regulating the import and selling of foreign dog breeds, besides earlier calls to avoid killing stray dogs to decrease their growing number.
