CAIRO - 28 February 2019: The driver of the locomotive that arrived at platform six to crash into the buffers causing a huge explosion leaving 20 killed and more than 40 injured said he is responsible for the horrific accident.

Alaa Fathi narrated the sequence of events that led up to the tragic accident in a television interview.

Security authorities have arrested earlier Fathi at Monufia governorate, where the driver went after the accident has taken place.

The public prosecution office said that an altercation between two train drivers caused the deadly blaze at Cairo’s Ramses Railway Station that killed 20 at least and injured more than 40 passengers.

The investigation revealed that the locomotive no.2310 (the locomotive that caused the tragic incident) was on its way to the storage unit when it met locomotive no.2305 in the opposite direction.
