CAIRO – 22 February 2019: Under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, Upper Egypt’s city of Aswan will host the Arab African Youth Forum due to convene on March 16-18.

The three-day forum comes in light of carrying out the recommendations of the second edition of the World Youth Forum (WYF), which was held in Sharm el Sheikh City in November 2018; at the closing ceremony of the WYF, President Sisi named Aswan the capital of African Youths in 2019.

At the 32nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union in Addis Ababa on February 10, President Sisi, who is currently heading the African Union, invited heads and presidents of African countries to attend the forum.

Luxor and Aswan are probably the two most popular and important touristic destinations in Egypt. However, to arrive in Luxor, tourists had to first land in Cairo International Airport and then take another internal flight to Luxor. Egypt needed a faster, direct route to Luxor so that tourists are encouraged to come.

President Sisi has commissioned the National Academy for Training and Rehabilitation of Youth with setting executive mechanisms for training the African youth in the economic, political and social levels, said Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli in a statement on December 2, 2018.
