CAIRO – 18 February 2019: Cairo International Airport authorities deported 19 illegal African immigrants for violating conditions of residence and work; some of them attempted to infiltrate into neighboring countries, according to a source at Cairo airport on Monday, Feb.18.

According to recent statistics issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), Africans of all nationalities live in Egypt in huge numbers in Mokattam, Helwan and some governorates like Alexandria and Suez.It reported that the number of Egyptian migrants declined during 2017 compared to 2016.

In May 2018, Parliament member Gamal Mahfouz said that the Africans who are living in Egypt have a tourist visa and have passed the period allowed for them and this is illegal.
Mahfouz added that they could be exploited by extremist groups to carry out acts of terrorism, stressing that their exploitation of state institutions is a form of wasting public money.
