CAIRO – 30 January 2019: Six private recruiting companies for Egyptian expats have been suspended for violating the labor law terms; meanwhile, the suspension of another four companies was lifted.

A Wednesday statement for the Ministry of Manpower and Immigration read that the Egyptian law is clear regarding the Egyptian expats' working criteria. Companies that violate any of the law terms face suspension.

Minister Mohamed Saafan said that, for example, the law states that private recruiting companies should not receive any money from expats in return for finding them suitable jobs; instead, the law states that after finding the job, it is the company’s right to receive 2 percent of the Egyptian expat's salary during his first working year.

Earlier, the government warned from fake companies which manipulate Egyptians taking advantage of their hard economic conditions.

In August 2018, Saafan warned citizens from seeking a one-year free residence visa in Lebanon, affirming that no such visa exists according to Lebanon’s residence Law.

In a statement, Saafan added that these kinds of visas are fraud and are only used to deceive citizens and steal their money. He explained that several ads on social media websites called on Egyptians to apply for one-year free residence visas to Lebanon. The offer was available for all professions and all education levels in order to provide the travelers with jobs in Beirut.

These ads, however, turned to be fake and only wanted to use citizens and steal their money. Several Egyptians were about to face expulsion and jail in Lebanon due to similar frauds, according to the statement.

Saafan stressed on the necessity of ensuring all work contracts before traveling to avoid being victims of scams.
