Cairo University to establish faculty of nanotechnology

CAIRO - 25 January 2019: Cairo University will establish a new faculty for nanotechnology, the second education facility in this field after Zewail City of Science and Technology.

President of Cairo University Mohamed Othman al-Khasht announced on Thursday in a statement that the University has the scientific capabilities to establish the faculty of nanotechnology.

He added that the university has signed a deal with Hiroshima University concerning of BSc in nanotechnology, praising the role of the University’s Egypt’s Nano Technology Center (EGNC-CU).

The EGNC-CU consists of three departments specialized in physics, chemistry, biochemistry fields, focusing on cancer treatment, water desalination, and solar energy, he continued.

Khasht called upon all concerned state’s bodies to market and promote the nanotechnology for developing the education system.

Since being inaugurated in 2000, the Zewail City of Science and Technology, which was named after its founder Chemistry Nobel laureate Ahmed Zewail, provides a nanotechnology engineering program.
