CAIRO - 23 January 2019: During his first visit to Cairo, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius praised Egypt’s role in the MENA region, affirming that his country is keen to join the discussions over the Middle East issues.

Linkevičius invited Egypt to participate in Lithuania’s April 2020 Science Summit. He stressed in his meeting with the Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee that his country is interested in boosting the economic relations with Egypt, according to Wednesday statements.

Linkevičius said that he considers himself a tourist and a Lithuanian official during this visit, revealing that his next visit will be in February to participate in the Arab League’s meetings in Sharm El-sheikh.

“We are not a very big country; however, we are interested in joining the Middle East discussions, as we appreciate Egypt’s key role in the region,” Linkevičius said.
