CAIRO, Jan 20 (MENA) - Justice Minister Hossam Abdel-Rahim asserted on Sunday that Egypt under the leadership of Abdel Fatah El Sisi is able to defeat terrorism and extremism.

"The state is also taking firm steps toward progress and development while undergoing a counter-terrorism war", Abdel-Rahim told a symposium organized by his ministry.

He cited the success achieved by the army and police against terrorism and extremism.

Presidential adviser for religious affairs Osama el-Azhari attended the event, which is part of a series of symposiums on topics including the concept of state in Islam.

El Azhar lauded the endeavor of the army and police in the anti-terror war and against extremism.

He also appreciated the role of judges over the history in defense of the homeland and the people's rights.
