CAIRO - 8 January 2019: Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Wali said more than 37,000 Egyptian families benefited from the "Sakan Kareem" (Decent Life) initiative in 2018 which cost around EGP 200 million.

In statements Tuesday, Wali said the program aims to improve the health and environment conditions of poor and underprivileged families by upgrading the infrastructure of their homes and making sure they have roofs over their heads and are provided with drinking water and sanitation services.

Meanwhile, the Awqaf Ministry has allocated EGP 100 million from the budget of 2019-2020 to support the "Decent Life" initiative launched by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa said.

The initiative aims at providing decent living conditions for the most needy people.

In a press release on Tuesday, Gomaa said that the assigned money will be spent in coordination with the ministries and bodies concerned.

On Monday, Gomaa paid a visit to stand on the activities of the awqaf authority and the National Group for Awqaf Investments in Aswan.
