CAIRO – 31 May 2017: The Cabinet approved LE 2,000-25,000 ($110-1,300) in compensation for those affected by Friday's fire in Imbaba market, Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Waly announced in a Wednesday statement.

On May 27, the Cairo Civil Protection Forces fought to extinguish fires that broke out in a number of shops and buildings at one of Imaba’s two most popular markets. Shop owners said the fire caused losses of up to LE 30 million and resulted in the burning down of 50 kiosks and 3 buildings.

Waly also said the ministry completed disbursement of compensation to those injured in last Friday’s attack in Minya, who received treatment at the Nasser Institute and El-Galaa Hospital.
