CAIRO – 5 January 2019: Hussein Zein, the Head of the National Media Authority (NMA), extended his Christmas wishes to Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria.

Whilst wishing the Pope and all Coptic Christians a blessed Christmas, Zein expressed the importance of the positive efforts exerted by the Pope in bringing together Muslims and Christians and increasing the tolerance between the followers of the two religions, according to a NMA statement on Saturday.

It is worth noting that the authority has been working on maximizing the positive role that the Egyptian media plays in increasing tolerance between the followers of different religions in Egypt, as well as enhancing respect between different beliefs. To do this, the media has worked to correct possible misconceptions and denounce violence and extremism, explained the statement.

Christmas mass to be held in New Administrative Capital

Official spokesman of the Coptic Church Paul Halim said Saturday that the Christmas mass on January 6 will be held in the New Administrative Capital led by Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria.

Halim added that the mass will take place at 12 p.m. and that buses will leave from agreed-upon spots towards the Cathedral in the New Administrative Capital.

Before mass, Halim elaborated, Pope Tawadros II will receive priests and clerks in Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abaseya between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Located 45 kilometers East of Cairo, Sisi announced in 2015 the construction of a new city, which he described as the new administrative and financial capital of Egypt.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi launched the inauguration ceremony of the New Administrative Capital on October 11, 2017.

The New Capital, which is currently being developed by the New Administrative Capital for Urban Development, will include residential districts, educational institutions, hospitals, 40,000 hotel rooms, a theme park, solar plants and a new international airport.

Participating developers at the moment include the Arab Contractors Company, Concord for Engineering and Contracting Company and Talaat Moustafa Group Holding Company, among others.
