CAIRO, Dec 23 (MENA) - Around 21 million citizens have so far been checked for Hepatitis C (HCV) and non-communicable diseases, Health Minister Hala Zayed said on Sunday.

The minister's announcement comes after screening around 8.2 million citizens in the second phase of "100 Million Health" presidential campaign for the elimination of Hepatitis C and detection of non-communicable diseases.

For his part, Spokesman for the Health Minister Khaled Megahed stressed that about 443,000 high school students have been examined so far within the first phase, which covers nine governorates.

The national three-phase campaign has been initiated by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. The campaign kicked off on October 1.
