RAMALLAH, Dec 23 (MENA) - Palestinian Minister of Awqaf (Endowment) and Religious Affairs Yousef Ede’es on Sunday condemned the raid by dozens of extremist Israeli settlers, led by the Knesset member Yehuda Glick, on Al Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem, WAFA News Agency reported.

He said in a press release that “ongoing violations done to Al-Aqsa Mosque and Islamic and Christian places of worship by Israeli political figures pushes settlers - who enjoy political and security protection from the right-wing Israeli government- to carry out more provocative tours of the mosque.

The political and security cover that the settlers enjoy to carry out daily violations is pushing them further,” he said. “The racist slogans that these extremists painted on the walls of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Mosque in the village of Haris in Salfit days ago are proof of this.”

He called on the international community's institutions concerned with preserving heritage and places of worship to put an end to these violations, which lead to further escalation.

About 118 Israeli settlers, including Glick, Sunday broke into Al Aqsa Mosque under heavy protection of Israeli police.
