CAIRO – 21 December 2018: The governor of Port Said, Major General Adel El-Ghadban received Friday morning the Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Mohammad Mukhtar Juma, and Grand Mufti Shawki Allam to inaugurate three huge mosques on Port Said’s National Day.

Port Said celebrates its National Day on 23 December, which is the day when enemies left this fearless country, which has faced forces with splendid defiance, ending with triumph.

Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa said on Friday, Nov. 23, that Islam is advocating life not death, highlighting that the role of the scholars is to use the religion in construction.

In a statement from Arish, North Sinai, the minister asserted that religions came to call for building not destroying, to achieve peace of the humanity not to undermine it and to make mankind live in happiness not in misery.

Gomaa expressed appreciation for the Egyptian Armed Forces and police for their role in eliminating terrorism and extremism, saying that they have dedicated themselves to serving the homeland and protecting it, lauding their role in the battle of construction and comprehensive development.

Gomaa is set to perform Friday prayer in Rawda Mosque in North Sinai to commemorate the anniversary of a terrorist attack that took place in the city.
