CAIRO, Dec 9 (MENA) - Minister of State for Immigration and Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram will take part in the Intergovernmental Conference to Adopt the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration which opens in Marrakech, Morocco on Monday.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Ministry of immigration said the minister's participation in the two-day conference comes as part of a national strategy to combat illegal immigration and boost cooperation with international organizations participating in the conference.

The Conference convenes under the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly and is held pursuant to resolution 71/1 of 19 September 2016, entitled "New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants," which decided to launch a process of intergovernmental negotiations leading to the adoption of the Global Compact for Migration.
