CAIRO – December 6: Egypt has won the seat of deputy chairman of the Arab Group at UNESCO within the framework of the first international meeting of the Global Convention on the Recognition of Higher Education.

Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said in a statement on Thursday that the convention will be formulated and presented during the 40th UNESCO general conference for approval.

The Global Convention will tackle six regional conventions on recognition of higher education, Abdel Ghaffar said.

Egypt is a member in three regional conventions, he said.

Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities Mohamed Latif Amin and Egyptian Cultural Adviser Niveen Khaled will represent Egypt during the preparatory meeting due on December 5-7 at the UNESCO premises in Paris.
