CAIRO – 30 May 2017: Militant leader Abou Moussab al-Shaarawy, known as commanding emir of the Shura Council of Mujahedeen, was reportedly killed during the Egyptian-Libyan airstrikes in Derna Monday evening; Libyan News Agency (LANA) reported quoting social media pages linked to local terrorist groups.

The groups also stated that Shaarawy's body is currently present at Al-Harish hospital in Derna.

Former commander in the Shoura Council of Mujahideen Abdel-Moniem Salem, known as Abou Talha, was also killed in an Egyptian airstrike on eastern Libya on Friday.

Hours after a massacre of 29 Coptic Christians in Minya on Friday, Egypt started a wave of air strikes, targeting training camps and the main center of the Shura Council for Mujahedin of Derna, which allegedly harbored the terrorist elements who carried the attack.

The strikes on Derna were held in cooperation with the general command of the Libyan armed forces; and Libyan officials have since then expressed their full support for Egypt's operations and its war against overseas terrorism.
