CAIRO – 28 November 2018: Minister of Immigration Nabila Makram received Canadian Ambassador to Egypt Jess Dutton on Wednesday, Nov. 28 to discuss coordination with the Egyptian expatriate community in Canada as well as cooperation in the field of immigration.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, Makram said that the Egyptian government is seeking to set several strategies to attract Egyptians living abroad to investment in Egypt.

The minister also pointed out that the Ministry of Immigration organizes several programs for Egyptian youth abroad to visit Egypt and get acquainted with the history of their country, linking them to the Egyptian traditions and values.

The Canadian ambassador stressed the strong relations between Egyptian and Canadian people, asserting the Canadian people and government's support to Egypt in its war against terrorism.

"In one of the terrorist attacks in North Sinai, the city council was darkened in Montreal as an expression of solidarity with Egypt; the same thing happened in Toronto, but they lit one of the towers of Canada known as the color of Egypt," he added.

"The Egyptian community in Canada is one of the largest communities in the country," he said, adding that Egyptians in Canada have become influential individuals in the society.

Furthermore, the Canadian ambassador highlighted his country's support to Egyptian students in Canada through various scholarships and student exchange programs.
