BAGHDAD, Nov 28 (MENA) - French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Iraq in the beginning of 2019, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry said Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali al Hakim received a phone call from his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian on the formation of the new Iraqi government.

Le Drian underscored the importance of promoting bilateral ties, stressing France's full support for Iraq.

Le Drian said he intends to visit Iraq in the beginning of 2019 ahead of Macron's visit.

Hakim highlighted the importance of promoting bilateral ties, hailing the key role played by France in supporting Iraq in the face of terrorism.
