CAIRO, Nov 26 (MENA) - Sergei Rachkov, the Belarusian ambassador in Cairo, has welcomed a planned visit by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to his country in 2019.

This will be the first visit by an Egyptian leader to Belarus, Rachkov said in statements to MENA Monday, calling it an important political event in the history of bilateral relations.

This year, Belarus' Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Minister Vladimir Koltovich will lead his country's delegation to meetings of the fifth joint trade committee with Egypt, slated for November 28-29.

Egypt's Trade and Industry Minister Amr Nassar will chair the Egyptian side of the meetings, which will be held in Cairo.

Rachkov stressed the importance of the joint committee meetings, which will tackle ways to boost bilateral relations.

He expected a 2019 roadmap to upgrade cooperation between Egypt and Belarus to be signed in the first initials, as well as a number of memorandums of understanding on the quality of goods and joint production.

The diplomat put the volume of trade exchange between the two countries at 79 million dollars in the period between January and September 2018, noting this is a 25.8-percent increase on last year.

He expected it to exceed 100 million dollars by the end of this year.
