CAIRO – 19 November 2018: British Prime Minister's Special Envoy on Freedom of Religion or Belief Lord Ahmed visited Egypt to enhance the British-Egyptian partnership in the field of education and interfaith dialogue, according to a statement issued by the British Embassy Monday, Nov. 19.

During his visit, Ahmed will meet with Grand Mufti Shawki Allam, Deputy of Al-Azhar Sheikh Saleh Abbas and Bishop Mounir Hanna Anis, president of the Anglican Church in Egypt and North Africa.

Earlier in November, the British government pledged to launch a campaign worth about £12 million ($15 million) to promote freedom of religion worldwide.

“I look forward to meeting with Al-Azhar students and religious leaders in Egypt as part of the ongoing efforts to promote the relations between different cultures and religions,” Ahmed added, according the statement.
