CAIRO – 18 November 2018: Minister of Immigration Nabila Makram visited the family of the Egyptian pharmacist killed in Saudi Arabia's Jizan to offer condolences.

Makram stressed the need to preserve the dignity of Egyptians abroad, pointing out that she contacted the Egyptian ambassador to Saudi Arabia to follow up the return of pharmacist Ahmed Taha's body to Egypt.

The body of the Egyptian pharmacist will arrive within three days, Makram said, stressing that the return of the body to be buried in Egypt is his family's most important concern currently.

Ahmed Taha Hassan Mahmoud was stabbed to death in the port city of Jizan, Egyptian government's news agency MENA said. Taha got seven stabs including five in the chest and the abdomen, according to the Jeddah-based Okaz newspaper.

The Saudi police managed to arrest the perpetrator after collecting evidence and fingerprints from the crime scene and watching the surveillance footage which shows the killer while committing the crime. Eye witnesses said the perpetrator suffers from a psychological disorder, according to Okaz.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement Friday, November 16, saying that it is following up investigations into Taha's murder.

Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Yasser Hashim said the ministry assigned the Egyptian consulate in the kingdom to follow up the probe.
