CAIRO - 10 November 2018: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Federica Mogherini, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, will co-chair in December the coming meeting of Egypt-EU Partnership Council.

According to a joint statement that was distributed in Cairo by the EU Commission on Saturday, the partnership commission held its sixth meeting in Cairo over the past two days under the co-chairmanship of Ambassador Raouf Saad of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry and Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department in the EU Colin Scicluna.

The meeting took up means of implementing partnership priorities in the period from 2017-2020 and the development of cooperation between both sides since the convocation of the last session in 2016.

The two sides discussed the Middle East peace process and the files of Syria, Libya and Yemen, added the statement.

The two sides also reviewed the outcome of sub-committees' meetings which included enhancing cooperation in the political, economic and social domains along with the fields of human rights, security, energy and fighting illegal migration, the statement indicated.

The two sides also voiced pleasure over a decision that was adopted by the Egyptian government cancelling customs duties on European-imported vehicles as of January 1 next year, the statement added.
