SHARM EL SHEIKH - 6 November 2018: The Ministry of Health opened on Tuesday a medical clinic in the World Youth Forum (WYF) for participants to do tests for Hepatitis C Virus and other chronic diseases.

This comes as part of the 100 Million Health campaign launched by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi for early detection of Hepatitis C Virus. It also comes within the framework of promoting medical tourism in Egypt.

Last October, over 3 million people have been tested for hepatitis C at healthcare units, Health Ministry hospitals, mobile clinics, and other health facilities nationwide since the launch of the campaign to free Egypt from hepatitis C, Minister of Health Hala Zayed stated on Oct.17.

Zayed added that the campaign runs from October 1 to the end of April 2019, stressing that patients will receive treatment for one to one and a half year, to announce Egypt free from the blood-borne disease by 2020 or 2021.

Citizens above 18 years of age of both sexes will be targeted during the first phase, she pointed out, explaining that they will test for hepatitis C, diabetes and hypertension. Height and weight of citizens will also be measured for obesity as part of the campaign which will provide free treatment, Zayed reiterated.

The third day of the second edition of the World Youth Forum kicked off under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

The second annual edition of the WYF will tackle two main axes: peace and development. The forum will bring together 5,000 youths represented by 60 delegations from across the world to explore key issues facing their generation, and determine their role in implementing the global development goals and in facing terrorism.

On Nov. 1 and 2, the forum witnessed pre-workshops related to the "agenda 2063: The Africa We Want" and "Empowering Persons with Disabilities: Towards a More Integrated World."

The opening of the World Youth Theater took place on Friday, November 2. The actual discussion sessions are planned to start on November 4, where participants will discuss a number of issues, including differences among cultures and civilizations, the role of world leaders in building and sustaining peace, the role of soft power in countering ideological extremism and terrorism, and Day Zero: Water security in the wake of climate change.

On November 5, the sessions will tackle the role of entrepreneurs and start-ups in global economic growth, rebuilding societies and states after conflicts, narrowing the gender gap in the labor market and humanitarian assistance: A global responsibility in the face of challenges.

The forum's closing session and the announcement of the World Youth Forum 2018's recommendations will take place on Nov. 6.
