CAIRO – 14 October 2018: Egypt's Ambassador to Sudan Osama Shaltot on Sunday commended historic relations binding Cairo and Khartoum, saying the Egyptian political leadership is always keen on boosting relations with its Sudanese counterpart.

He made the remarks during a meeting of the Parliament's African Affairs Committee chaired by MP Tareq Radwan to discuss means of fostering Egyptian-Sudanese relations.

In his speech, Shaltot pointed out that the Egyptian Embassy in Khartoum comprises a galaxy of diplomats, who play a key role in developing relations between the two countries.

For his part, head of the African affairs committee underlined the importance of reinstating the “Nile Valley” parliament between Egypt and Sudan, as part of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives to bolster relations among African states and activate full cooperation with Sudan.

Preparations are underway for sending a parliamentary delegation to Sudan, Radwan said.

The move comes within the framework of President Sisi's instructions to develop relations with Khartoum in the different fields, he added.
