Parl't speaker participates in IPU Executive Committee meetings

GENEVA - 12 October 2018: Speaker of the House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal participated on Friday in meetings of the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The meetings discussed a number of topics, topped by draft amendments to the IPU statute and rules, as well as issues related to membership of some parliaments.

Abdel Aal headed for Geneva from Paris to take part in the 139th meetings of the IPU Assembly, set for October 14-18. All IPU statutory bodies, including the Governing Council, Standing Committees, Committees on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians and on Middle East Questions, as well as the Forum of Women Parliamentarians and the Forum of Young MPs meet on this occasion.

The speaker is set to deliver a speech on the role played by the parliaments in promoting peace and development
