CAIRO – 12 October 2018: Pakistan is keen to boost its ties with Egypt, said new Pakistani President Arif Alvi during his meeting with Egyptian ambassador to Islamabad Ahmed Fadel Yakoub, Pakistan Today reported on Thursday.

Ambassador Yakoub sent President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s congratulations to the newly elected Pakistani President on assuming the office.

Arif Alvi assumed the office on September 9, four days after he was elected the new President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

On September 24, the Pakistani Embassy in Cairo celebrated 70 years of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Pakistan. A summit was held by South Asian Strategic Stability Institute University (SASSI) in collaboration with the Embassy.

The summit reviewed the importance of the Suez Canal and the new Suez Canal as well as future cooperation with the Pakistani Gwadar in a meeting titled “The Suez Canal and Gwadar the Gateway”.
