CAIRO – 10 October 2018: President of Cairo University Mohamed Othaman al-Khasht met Wednesday, Oct. 10 with Director of the British Council in Egypt Elizabeth White to discuss ways of cooperation between Cairo University and the British Council.

Khasht congratulated White on the assumption of the presidency of the British Council, stressing the importance of the British Council’s role in spreading the English language and culture in Egypt.

“This cooperation will serve the students in several fields,” Kasht said, asserting the importance of anti-harassment and anti-violence against women campaigns at Cairo University and other Egyptian universities. “I dream of the day when a man sees a woman as a human being,” Kasht reiterated.

He pointed out that Cairo University welcomes the British students who are interested in learning Arabic in the Arabic Language Center.

White welcomed the council's cooperation with Cairo University by cooperating with the Unit against harassment and violence against women, among other fields of cooperation. She also affirmed the Egyptian universities' need for joint degrees with British universities.

Furthermore, Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with President of the Universities of Tokyo Makoto Gonokami during his visit to Japan in October to discuss mechanisms of cooperation in the field of education.
