CAIRO - 7 October 2018: Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit headed for Barcelona on Sunday to take part in the third regional forum of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).

The forum will be held under the joint presidency of Jordan and the EU.

Abul Gheit's participation in the forum comes as part of efforts to expand the Arab League's scope of cooperation with regional and international entities to serve Arab interests, his spokesman Mahmoud Afifi said.

The UfM includes many Arab countries and consequently such forum provides a common ground for dialogue and increases opportunities of cooperation, especially in the development domain, Afifi said.
