Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Sudanese counterpart Mohamed Ahmed held a meeting on Wednesday

CAIRO - 30 September 2018: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with his Sudanese counterpart Al Dirdiri Mohamed Ahmed on the sidelines of the 73rd UN General Assembly in New York.

The meeting tackled bilateral relations and regional issues of mutual concern, said the foreign ministry's spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.

Shoukry lauded the development in the ties, citing the outcome of meetings of top officials held in Cairo in August, said Abu-Zeid.

The top diplomat underlined the importance of implementing the results of the meetings to serve the common interests of Egypt and Sudan, added the spokesman.

He also highlighted that the significance of regular political consultation between the foreign ministries.

As for the regional issues, the foreign ministers discussed the situation in South Sudan, said Abu Zeid, adding that Shoukry hailed Khartoum's efforts to sign a peace agreement between the warring parties in Sudan Sudan.

The Sudanese government's endeavor to bring about peace in Sudan was also lauded by the Egyptian foreign minister.
