CAIRO - 27 September 2018: The Union for the Mediterranean (UFM) is set to organize the 2018 edition of the high level Women4Mediterranean conference in partnership with Portugal during the period from October 9 to 11 in Lisbon .

Egypt is taking part in the conference which will be held under the rubric "Women Build Inclusive Societies".

The UFM Secretariat General said in a press release on Thursday that the conference is expected to gather more than 300 high level stakeholders from all sectors involved in gender equality and women’s empowerment in the Euro-Mediterranean region, including country representatives, ministers, international organizations, civil society platforms and private sector actors.

This year's edition comes at a time when the 43 UfM countries adopted a strong Ministerial Declaration with an ambitious action plan where UfM Ministers committed to take the necessary and relevant measures and create policies to promote the equality between women and men, in rights and opportunities, in all spheres of society.

The conference will enable participants to discuss, exchange experiences and promote women’s participation in the public, economic and civil life for bringing solutions to
regional challenges.

It will represent a platform for launching regional initiatives and projects, new ideas,
collaborations and partnerships
