DUBLIN – 25 Sept 2018: Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal said Egypt-Ireland relations will witness remarkable development after activating the agenda of the joint friendship committee.

Political leadership in Ireland recognizes Egypt’s great role in several international files and issues, Abdel Aal told MENA on Tuesday.

The parliament speaker said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has good relations with political leaderships in Ireland, which he said supports Egypt in international gatherings and at the European Union.

Relations between Cairo and Dublin started about 40 years ago, he said, noting that Egypt was one of the first countries to open an embassy in Ireland.

Meanwhile, Abdel Aal said the joint friendship committee will work on exchanging expertise and visits between the two sides in addition to deepening economic relations in the agricultural and livestock fields.

The committee will also work on boosting cultural and tourist relations between Egypt and Ireland, he said.
