Egypt’s Foreign Ministry condemns EC statements on Rabaa rulings

Wed, Sep. 12, 2018
CAIRO – 12 September 2018: Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid on Tuesday addressed the European Commission (EC) statements on Egypt’s judicial verdicts on armed Rabaa sit-in.

A Cairo Criminal Court sentenced Sunday 75, including senior Muslim Brotherhood leaders, to death for their involvement in a 2013 Rabaa sit-in protest.

Such remarks represent a repetitive approach of prejudiced stances by the European Commission, the spokesman told reporters.

He added that EC stances, motivated by biased positions, violate the principles of respect for the rule of law and the judicial authorities.

The Egyptian institutions are determined to assume their full powers guaranteed by the Constitution and the law, Abu Zeid said.

Egypt will continue to abide by the principles of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries in line with the Charter of the United Nations, which should be respected by all members of the international community, including the European Commission, he added.
