Sadr mulls with Basra governor rapid solutions to address public protests

BAGHDAD - 7 September 2018: Leader of the Iraqi Sadrist Movement Muqtada al-Sadr has discussed with Basra Governor Asaad Eidani rapid solutions for the public protests taking place in the province against deteriorating services.

The meeting touched on the current crisis in Basra, with both sides agreeing on the need to implement rapid solutions to end the suffering of the province's residents, Alsumaria News channel reported on Friday, quoting a statement by Eidani as saying.

Sadr asserted the importance of implementing the demands of Basra residents, said the statement.

Both sides tackled as well joint coordination for the coming parliament session, slated for Sunday, which is set to determine solutions needed to address the escalating crisis taking place in the province, the statement added.
