CAIRO – 6 September 2018: A delegation of House of Representative headed by Parliament Speaker, Ali Abdel Aal is scheduled to pay an official visit to France next October, Tarek Radwan, chairman of the Egyptian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, said.

This visit comes within the framework of a number of visits to be paid by the Parliament to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between Egypt and various countries, Radwan added. He further pointed out that the visit will include several meetings with top French officials including the French Speaker of the Parliament and the Foreign Minister.

In July, Radwan called for pushing forward Egypt-France relations at the parliamentary level. Radwan’s remarks were made during a meeting of the committee members with a delegation from the French Parliament. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Egyptian-French parliamentary friendship association.

The meeting was chaired by head of the Free Egyptians Party’s parliamentary assembly Ayman Abul Ela who underscored the importance of exchanging visits between parliamentary delegations from Egypt and France.

He also highlighted the role played by the parliamentary diplomacy in fostering relations between Cairo and Paris.

Sisi paid a visit to France in October 2017. He discussed with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron combating terrorism, the Palestinian cause, and regional issues, such as Syria, Libya, illegal migration and trafficking. This visit was the third since Sisi took office in 2014 and the first since French President Emmanuel Macron was elected in May 2017.
