CAIRO - 2 September 2018: Preparatory meetings for the 102nd ministerial session of the Arab Economic and Social Council kicked off at the Arab League headquarters on Sunday.

Within this context, the social committee stemming from the council held a meeting today under head of the economic relations department at the Iraqi Trade Ministry Adel Khodeir al Massaoudi.

Addressing the meeting, Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League Haifa Abu Ghazaleh underlined the importance of the topics to be raised at the ministerial meetings, especially regarding preparations for the Arab Summit slated for Tunis in March 2019 and the economic and social development summit to take place in Beirut in 2019.

The agenda also includes a proposal on setting up a higher council for population and development in the Arab countries, she added.

The ministerial session will also follow up the implementation of resolutions of the Arab-Africa summit, that was held in November of 2016.
